I just had a chat with my best friend and I feel compelled to say few things.

I'm not talking about stuff you'd actually want to keep to yourself and that you know how to solve on your own. I'm talking about problems you don't share with people that love you because "they might be too busy", "I don't want them to worry", "it's clingy and needy", "they have enough problems of their own", "it's stupid" etc.
I don't know about you, but I cannot even begin to describe how horrible I feel when I find out someone close to me is or was going through something and I couldn't be there for them because they didn't tell me because of the said reasons or something similar, and it happened quite a few times. And sometimes they were in such serious situations. Just imagine how would you feel if your friend/family member had to deal with something. Would YOU think it's stupid or clingy? Or would you be focused on helping them or, if you can't, at least showing them support? I'm guessing the later.

*Anyone who's too busy to find time for people they love has their priorities sorted out wrong.

*Worrying for others is normal. It's shows our care and love, shows someone has your interest at heart, and it means they will try to think of a solution. Yes, it's not a positive emotion, but I can guarantee you people who love you would rather worry than let you go through stuff on your own. Your loved ones may have their problems too. But have you noticed how most people who have "enough of their own stuff to worry about" as you may think, in fact are almost always ready to help? It's because it helps take the focus of their own hardships.
And I'm really sorry if this seems rude, but it's not okay for you to decide if they get to be worried about you or not.

*We all need someone sometimes. Don't be a hero. It's okay to cling. Some thing are to heavy for you to carry them on your own. I can tell you, when ever a friend comes to me with a problem, I don't see it as needy. I see it as "I'm so glad you came to talk to me about this because now we can try to fix it."

*This is so IMPORTANT. It's NOT stupid if it posses a problem for you. Even if it's something that's simple and normal for other people.

Please, please talk to people who love you. They want to be there for you.

Because where else can you see Tinkerbell grabbing Zelda's boob, Wednesday Addams happily covered in fairy dust, Merida with a professional camera or Kate Elliott hitting a piñata with a sword. Okay, okay, Tink was actually helping Zelda to undress- I mean, WITH her dress... Pinning something... And pretty much everyone was covered in fairydust. And I made slippers/shoes/whatever it is that Peter Pan has on his feet out of felt so I gliding on the floor half of the time. First time I fell, tho.

Last Sunday my favourite scifi convention, SFeraKon, ended. I haven't been to many different conventions so I'm bias, but still. This was my fifth SFeraKon and also first time I helped judging literature and art competition for children's awards given at the convention. It was such an awesome experience. I barely slept the whole week, and I was grading stories till the moment I got out of tram and then 20 more minutes on the tram stop - on the Sunday of the judging, when I was going to my friend's place where we were supposed determine the winners.

Also this was my third year I helped set up the place for the con and clean up afterwards, which is way more fun than it sounds. You get to meet other volunteers and you kinda really appreciate it all more after you see the effort envolved. Also there's afterparty for organizers at the end which is always a blast.

This year's guest of honor was Kate Elliott. A woman with a great sense of humor, I must say, and really nice, too. I especially enjoyed her worldbuilding workshop. She talked how important it is to do a proper research for your story. So after I asked what's the most annoying thing she ever read, where was obvious that the author needed to do a research, but wrote like he/she had sovereign knowledge about it. "It was probably something about female anatomy", she said. "I remember reading it and thinking, no, I'm pretty sure that's not how it works."

And with these left-overs of my post-SFeraKon depression (yes it is a professional term) I shall conclude my little rant that I absolutely had to write at 5am instead of working on a paper for my English class.

P.S. photos, if anyone's interested :D

This video was posted in one of groups I'm in, and I think everyone should see this. I'm very often not satisfied with my work. That includes some of the submission here on dA and a whole bunch of other things I never showed you because I think they're not good enough.
